6ft Ornamental Pear Tree | 13L Pot | Pyrus Chanticleer
This narrowly conical ornamental pear is smothered in sprays of pure white flowers popular with bees in April and May. Later in the year, small ornamental pears develop to add to the year long interest.
The glossy, dark green foliage turn marvellous shades of purple and crimson in autumn and are retained right up to the edge of winter. An excellent specimen tree for small urban gardens, it tolerates pollution and alkaline soils.
The pear takes its name from French/ Italian missionary Joseph Callery who, in the 1830s, made his way to China where he developed his interest in botanical collection discovering many species.
