How Your Plant Will Arrive Planting Requirements Planting Guide
As we recommend with all plants, you should regularly water your Indian Mallow once planted, ideally for the next few months.
When planting, dig a hole twice the circumference of the pot. Ensure that the pot sits roughly level with the soil, with the graft point above the soil. Fill the remaining space with a mix of compost and garden soil. Make sure that you firm down the soil, but not so you are compressing it down.
Lovingly grown by our trusted nursery, your climbing plant will be delivered right to your doorstep. This approach means that you will receive nursery fresh plants that were on the growing table one day, and at your door the following! Our expert nursery have spent decades perfecting the art of watering, feeding, and pruning climbing plants and will do so until hours before they are packed.
Each plant has been grown on a cane and is later expertly packaged into a specially designed, extra thick cardboard box. They will then be sent via a delicate courier network to prevent any chance of damage in transit.
Please note, while the plants (detailed on the right), are our Lonicera varieties, they are a good indication of the quality you can expect to receive.
A little more tender than other plants, Abutilon ‘Canary Bird’ will need a little more attention, detailed below:
- Hardiness: While it holds the Award of Garden Merit, Canary Bird is tender to frost, so should be protected during the colder months.
- Position: A sheltered spot with plenty of sun is best. If grown in a conservatory, it can flower through the winter months. Outside, flowers will typically appear from early summer.
- Soil: Most soils (as long as they are moist but well-drained) will be enough for this plant.
- Pots: This variety will happily grow in a container, and due to its tender nature, this is ideal as you can bring it indoors when the weather becomes to harsh.
